Circular 3/10
Circular to all Nationwide Radio Stations
For the past two years, the Authority has been conducting works at Gharghur aimed at strengthening the Transmitting Tower. These works have now reached the final stage and their completion is scheduled for the end of June 2010.
The final stage of this exercise will focus on the top section of the tower where radiation is at its highest. The contractor undertaking the works has informed us that it will, unfortunately, be necessary to switch off analogue radio stations on two consecutive weekdays to allow him to carry out the works. These works are scheduled for Thursday, 3rd and Friday, 4th June 2010 between 2.00p.m. and 9.00p.m. each day.
Essentially, this means that all nationwide radio stations will not emit any transmission signals during these particular periods. Should unfavourable weather deter the works on the planned days, the assignment will be postponed and a further notification sent to the stations. The Authority will be issuing a news release to inform the general public of this planned switch-off and the importance of these works.
Whilst apologising for any inconvenience caused, I trust that the Authority will have your full cooperation on the matter as ultimately these works are necessary to ensure the smooth operation of this vital broadcasting hub.
