Maintenance work on the Għargħur Transmitting Tower

Please note that this Wednesday 4th November the Malta Broadcasting Authority shall be carrying out maintenance on its Għargħur Transmitting Tower during which some service interruptions might be required.  In order to minimize the impact of this maintenance while safeguarding the health and safety of our servicemen, the authority plans to use the backup antennas on other parts of the same tower at a reduced transmission power which will invariably reduce coverage of nationwide FM transmissions.  This operation however has its own risks and there is still a possibility that a complete shutdown of the transmissions from the tower might be required.

The plan for maintenance will require the lowering of transmission power at around 1230, and we should be able to go back to normal power levels by 1600.  To this intent, we kindly ask you to have your technical personnel on standby at Għargħur by 1200, so that the necessary changes can be applied as soon as the tower servicemen give us the go-ahead.

While thanking you for your cooperation, may we remind you that this maintenance is being done to ensure continued viability of the Għargħur tower in the years to come.  We appreciate if you would inform your producers and presenters who will be notifiying their listeners accordingly.
