Introduction

The Malta Broadcasting Authority (hereinafter ‘the Authority’ or ‘we’) takes your privacy very seriously and is committed to protecting and securing any personal data we may collect from you. We take all safeguards necessary to prevent unauthorized access and we do not give your personal details collected from you as a visitor and/or user, to third parties, unless:

  • These third parties are engaged by the Authority in the carrying out of its duties;

  • You give us your consent to do so;

  • The personal data is under a legal or regulatory duty to do so.

This privacy policy contains provisions applicable to our website, and the facilities offered therein, and explains how we collect your personal data, what personal data we may collect about you, why we need it, what we do with it, how long we keep it for and what your rights are. 

The Data Controller of this website, who determines the purpose and means of processing of the personal data collected, is the Authority whose principal place of business is situated at 7, Mile End Road, Ħamrun ĦMR 1719, Malta.

The term ‘personal data’ refers to personally identifiable information about you, such as your name, address and/or email address. The Authority collects your personal data when you make use of the following services available on our website:

We collect the following types of personal data from you to offer you a service therefore acting as data processors on your behalf:

What we do with your personal data

Your personal data is processed in our offices in Ħamrun located in Malta. Hosting and storage of your data takes place on our dedicated servers located within the Broadcasting Authority premises in Ħamrun.

We may also share your personal data with the below third parties:

  • Any regulatory authority or statutory body pursuant to a request for information or any legal obligation which applies to us;

  • Our professional advisors such as our auditors, consultants and external legal and financial advisors;

  • Third-party services who support our day-to-day activities which may include: WeTransfer, Sage, and Active Directory.

No other third-party vendors have access to your data, unless specifically required by law.

 

Except as otherwise mentioned in this privacy policy, we keep your personal data only for as long as required by the Authority. After this period, your personal data will be irreversibly destroyed. Any personal data held by us to provide you with our latest updates will be kept by us until such time that you notify us that you no longer wish to receive this information.

We will not retain your data for longer than is necessary to fulfil the purpose it is being processed for. To determine the appropriate retention period, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the personal data, the purposes for which we process it and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means.

Our website uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to ensure secure transmission of your personal data.
