Switch-off Analogue Radio Stations

Circular 4/10

Circular to all Nationwide Radio Stations

I refer to my last communication dated 20th May in connection with works being carried out on the Gharghur Tower which necessitate the switch-off of all analogue radio stations on two consecutive dates. The Authority has received requests for rescheduling from Sales and Marketing personnel of some stations. These have expressed a clear preference that the works in question take place during a weekend’s transmission, claiming that fewer sponsored programmes would be affected in this way. The Authority has therefore managed to make alternative arrangements with its contractor who has kindly obliged to accommodate such requests, and, subject to weather conditions, the works are now planned for Saturday, 12th and Sunday, 13th June, again between 2.00p.m. and 9.00p.m. each day.

The nature of the works is such that they can only take place during daylight and cannot be conducted during the night. Please note that this decision is final and dates will only change in case of inclement weather.

I trust that all stations will cooperate as these works are, unfortunately, unavoidable. The Authority will be issuing a news release to inform the general public of this planned switch-off.
